On a long weekend trip to the Hill Country last week I stopped in at the spectacular building that houses Michael Ros Winery at the invitation of Tasting Room manager Ron Moore. Winemaker Tim Drake was taking a cruise, after a tough harvest season but he has just released two interesting wines that were not available on my May trip.

The Envisage 2022 is their Bordeaux blend. Cabernet Sauvignon 36%, Merlot 43%, and Malbec 21%. Full-bodied with stout tannins, dark fruit that is expansive in the nose and mouth. Can be aged for some years or consumed now.

The Grenache 2023 is a softer, fruit-forward wine. It is impressive that those grapes got through to harvest given how hard Texas has been on this grape in the past. Good job with the winemaking.
