Named after the year tequila was first aged in oak casks, 1800 Tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave. As you pour from the distinctive trapezoidal bottle (the top of which used to be a shot glass) you notice the refined mildly herbaceous nose, orange peel notes and sweet wine gum hints. Many drink brands advertise that they go down smooth but fil to live up to the promise. 1800 is smooth, and with a long mesmerizing finish.
For me, I sip this tequila - slow and easy, watching a movie. But for those who prefer theirs in a cocktail, here’s a tempting recipe.
1800 LA Rita
2 oz. 1800 Silver
1 oz. lime juice
½ oz. agave syrup
½ oz. fresh squeeze orange juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker, shake and strain into salted rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Sample.
