ROCK AND ART - ROCK IS ART FRIDAY 13TH IS ROCKART!

 FROM THE WIRES...

ROCKTOBERFEST ART SHOW

October 13th, 5:00 - 10:00pm

Daum Gallery and Texas Ale Project want to Rock and Roll all night...and get ARTY everyday!

They have teamed up to present Rocktoberfest on Friday the 13th in the Dallas Design District.

Daum Gallery, who brought you the sell-out Barbie in a Blender exhibit this summer, has decided to trade the pink for black and we are ready to rock it out with a rock-and-roll themed art exhibition featuring artists Amy Voss and Robert Ferndandez.

The event will kick off at Daum Gallery with complimentary beer and wine served from 5pm until 8pm. KISS will be in the gallery from 7pm - 7:45pm for photo opportunities until they take the stage in the Texas Ale Project beer garden at 8:00pm.

There is a $5.00 cover charge to see the concert, but the art show is free!

Texas Ale Project and Daum Gallery literally share a wall, so atendees will be able to move with ease back and forth between the two venues. Food Trucks will be on-site, and Texas Ale Project brews will be available at the gallery and in the tap room.

It is going to be a very exciting evening of art, music and a rocking good time! For more details and to reserve your free tickets, click on the RSVP icon above.

Other artists featured: Taylor Daum, Lea Ellermeier, Katie Nixon, Jess Tedder, Carmen Crawford, and David McGlothlin.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

AMY VOSS

A self taught artist, Amy experimented with various approaches before she landed on her signature style: One-of-a-kind glass sculptures that incorporate the body of an acoustic guitar as canvas—a natural fit for her bold and expressive work. In 2009, she launched Glass Axes to both sell bespoke works, and educate customers about her process.

Many of Amy’s guitar sculptures have been acquired by private collectors, including entertainer Katy Perry, and renowned entertainment industry execs; as well as hotels and restaurants.

ROBERT FERNANDEZ

As an animation producer, Robert has been involved in creative media for over 30 years. As a creator, producer and writer he has been recognized internationally for his work and received multiple awards. It has only been recently that, yearning for another means of creativity, he started creating works of art. His first endeavor was collage.

The idea didn’t go away and it wasn’t until much later that he came across other artists who had had the same thought. A few weeks later, he took the plunge and began with an image of a Japanese Geisha. The simplicity of the make-up in contrast with the intricate hair decorations drew him, and soon the ripped pieces of magazine began to shape his first collage portrait.

GUEST ARTIST: BOB SUFFOLK

Dallas' Bob Suffolk Designed Some of the World's Most Famous Recording Studios. Suffolk, who's originally from the U.K., spent a good portion of his life working alongside some of rock music's biggest stars, rubbing shoulders with everyone from the Kinks to Elton John while he worked in London. A lesser known fact about Bob is that he is also an outstanding artist and painter who will be presenting new pieces that he created specially for Daum Gallery's upcoming Rocktoberfest. We are honored to get to showcase the artwork of such a talented music legend.
