A powerful full-bodied wine that will benefit from five or more years age. There is plenty in this wine but it will be best enjoyed when they are more resolved.

WORDS FROM THE WINERY

The Wine This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec was sourced exclusively from Stags Leap and harvested at peak ripeness, showcasing fine tannins that add texture to blue fruit, spice and herbal notes. After 18 days of skin fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in a mix of new and neutral French oak barrels, resulting in a voluminous blend rich in blueberry and savory herbs.

The Label The first work of art by a formerly incarcerated artist to be acquired by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Using limited materials—soap, hair gel, and improvised tools—Purgatory exemplifies the ingenuity of artists within the system. Krimes safeguarded the printed soaps within playing card containers, smuggling them through the prison mailing system over the course of a year. This creative process served as a mental escape from the dehumanizing environment of prison while fostering unexpected connections with those around him. It represents art-making as both an act of resistance and a means of community building.

The Series Corrections is the name of our partnership with acclaimed artist Jesse Krimes and The Center for Art & Advocacy, a nonprofit organization founded by Krimes. 5% of the proceeds from each bottle of Corrections sold will be donated to The Center for Art & Advocacy, in addition to a $75,000 direct donation to assist their work in supporting justice-impacted artists.

Suitable

This full-bodied red wine still has young abrasive tannins. A few years aging will soften these and make this a fine wine with red meat. The flavors are complex, the finish impressive and combining fruit and oak.
