Material from the producer notes he folowing background on this wine. "With summer entertaining in full swing, I would like to introduce you to a Pinot Noir that’s both elevated and easy to love: the 2021 Gary Farrell Lancel Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir (SRP $75). This expressive wine is perfect for casual outdoor gatherings, warm evenings, and effortless summer hosting.
Â
Capturing the untamed beauty of the Sonoma Coast, the grapes for this wine are sourced from the windswept hillside of Lancel Creek Vineyard just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. Winemaker Brent McKoy, who was originally hired by Gary Farrell himself, continues the tradition of crafting elegant, site-driven wines that reflect the character and complexity of each vintage and vineyard.
Â
For your next backyard barbecue or relaxed evening on the patio, try chilling the Lancel Creek Pinot for about 20 minutes before serving. A slight chill enhances its vibrant acidity and brings out the wine’s juicy red fruit and savory coastal notes, making it unexpectedly refreshing on a warm day."
PRODUCER'S TASTING NOTES AND PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
They mix tasting notes with pairing suggestions later on (my emphasis added).
This Pinot’s natural brightness and layered complexity make it a seamless pairing for grilled fare—from salmon and herbed chicken to burgers and steaks. Its vibrant fruit cuts through smoky richness, while notes of thyme, cedar, and forest floor echo the savory char of outdoor cooking."

MY 2c
I echo those tasting notes and would add a savory note in the nose, not uncommon to California pinot noir (especially around SLO, I have found). I would also put a name on the fruit, raspberry. The wood is also faintly cigar box in character.
It all adds up to a great wine for the summer. It will keep if you buy enough to have some around in the future, but I don't think it will improve. For drinking in the near term.
