National recognition reinforces Johnson City's place in the growing Texas Hill Country wine ecosystem
JOHNSON CITY, Texas — Texas Wine Jam has earned national recognition as one of USA TODAY's 2026 10Best Wine Festivals, cementing its reputation as a premier Texas wine event and elevating Johnson City as a must-visit destination for Texas weekenders.
Held annually in the Texas Hill Country, Texas Wine Jam has established a reputation as one of the best wine-buying events for both experienced and casual consumers. Texas Wine Jam offers tastings, wine purchases, educational experiences, and a variety of live music performances. According to Texas Wine Jam founder Daniel Kelada, the event has become a beloved staple of the Texas Hill Country because of its unique focus on making wine buying a true experiential activity.
"The inclusion on the 10Best Wine Festivals list is meaningful because it reflects both expert recognition and the enthusiasm of wine lovers from across the country," said Daniel Kelada, founder of Texas Wine Jam. "Texas has become one of the world's most exciting emerging wine regions, and Johnson City is right at the center of that story. We're proud that Texas Wine Jam has become a place where visitors can discover the quality, innovation and hospitality that define Texas wine."
The annual rankings are determined through the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. Nominees are selected by a panel of travel experts, then voted on by readers nationwide.
A respected wine expert, educator and négociant, Kelada created Texas Wine Jam to showcase the breadth and quality of Texas wine while connecting visitors directly with the winemakers, growers and culinary talent driving the state's wine industry forward.
For Johnson City, the recognition highlights the community's growing reputation as a destination worthy of a dedicated getaway. "Being named among the nation's best wine festivals shines a spotlight on everything that makes Johnson City special," said Maggie McMahon, spokesperson for Explore JCTX. "Visitors come for special events like Texas Wine Jam, then realize there’s even more to Johnson City – our wineries, restaurants, shopping, presidential history, state parks, and more. Add to that our starry Texas skies and genuine Hill Country hospitality, and it’s no surprise Johnson City is gaining traction as a destination that delivers unforgettable experiences year-round."
The next Texas Wine Jam will take place October 17, 2026, bringing together dozens of Texas wineries along with educational tastings, live entertainment and curated wine experiences throughout the weekend.
