SUBSTANCE WINES UNVEILS 2025 ‘RI’ RIESLING,
A VIBRANT NEW EXPRESSION OF WASHINGTON WINE
LARKSPUR, CA – April 20, 2026 – Substance Wines, the Washington-based brand from O’Neill Vintners & Distillers, a B Corp Certified, family owned and operated company, is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 'Ri' Riesling (SRP $14). Crafted by Winemaker Brennon Leighton, this new single-vineyard offering reinforces the brand’s commitment to high-quality low-intervention winemaking while highlighting the distinct terroir of Washington State.
Sourced exclusively from the Evergreen Vineyard in the Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley AVA, this AVA is renowned for producing world-class white wines from its unique cool-climate slopes.
"Substance ‘Ri’ Riesling delivers exactly what today’s wine drinker is looking for: freshness, complexity, and incredible value,” says Founder & CEO, Jeff O’Neill. The 'Ri' Riesling brings a vibrant and complex energy to the Substance portfolio, launching strategically to meet a growing consumer trend toward refreshing white wines and the increasing popularity of the $9-13 Washington State Riesling segment. Consistent with a growing consumer demand for lighter, more refreshing varietals, the 2025 ‘Ri’ Riesling features a lower alcohol content of 11.5% ABV.
Leighton, Washington’s undisputed master of Riesling, brings over two decades of winemaking expertise to this project, emphasizing purity, nuance, and the singular expression of the vineyard. Leighton meticulously selects sustainably grown grapes and uses native yeast fermentation, lees aging, and a minimal amount of sulfur dioxide to achieve a true expression of the site and vintage.
The 2025 Substance ‘Ri’ Riesling is available nationally.
