Famed Dallas chef Kent Rathbun’s latest venture opens today at 11am. It is on the Katy Trail at Monticello. It is set in a trailer designed by the same architect who designed a trailer used in the construction of Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Bilbao.
HOW DO I FIND IT?
Get there by car by exiting North Central Expressway at Monticello. Taking Monticello west to the Katy Trail, where the road terminates. Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ is the last lot (on the south side). Some parking is available.
Get there by foot/bike/skates/ by walking on the Katy Trail. It is north of Knox Street and south of Javier’s.
Get there by private helicopter or ICBM by heading to coordinates 32.827394, -96.787048
WHAT CAN I EAT?
Right now Rathbun is serving just BBQ. When my dog took me for a walk early this morning the crew was setting up for their first service. Some tables and chairs are available. Access from the Katy Trail requires walking round the end of a wall. Construction starts soon on a set of Palladian stairs down to the trail, and the area next to the trail will become a patio with over 50 seats.
I predict this will be a big hit and one of those venues that TV crews from food shows visit when they cover Dallas. Right now it is a secret.
