You can never get tired going to Burger Schmurger because every month they put their heads together and come up with a Burger of the Month. It's a crazy incantation of how they were feeling, what they were drinking, and who they were with at the time. I just sampled Burger of the Month -- July at a media event and it is a winner!

It is built on the Burger Schmurger double smashburger, a potato bun with American cheese that is topped with housemade mac n' cheese. The burger is already juicy and tasty, but add the al dente mac with the moist cheese and you have one (actually many) a mouthful of tasty, heartwarming flavor. At a flat $12, it is a solid value.

Poutine

We arrived at six-thirty midweek and virtually every seat was taken at this boisterous East Dallas favorite. The noise level can be high, but that's just lots of happy people. The crowd is mainly locals and prices are kept in line to make it a neighborhood focus rather than a destination-only place. For example, my Poutine starter would have fed most of Saskatchewan but was only $9. Much of it is destined for lunch tomorrow! A side of chicken salad is $13 and was easily enough for two . Fries (cooked in beef tallo - Yes!) are $5 for enough to require structural column reinforcements in the fridge. And these prices are not achieved by lowering the quality of the ingredients, but by using the high volume. Service was quick and friendly. A favorite burger, The Maverick ($12), has house smoked bacon jam, American and Provolone cheese on a butter=toasted bun. Recommended.

There is a fully-stocked bar as well if you just want to hang, and drink. The margritas were welcome on a post-100 degree Dallas day.

Founded by Dave Culwell, Burger Schmurger is rooted in a philosophy that prioritizes flavor, consistency, and experience over complication.
