Grand Lux Cafe Weekend Brunch Excels

by Andrew Chalk

Now that we are getting out again Grand Lux Cafe is a must-go destination for weekend brunch. Not only is it an opulent location in the style of the Belle Epoque Belgium and Austrian Cafés. Consider four of the most popular items.

Huevos Rancheros: Crispy Corn Tortillas Topped with Black Beans, Sauteed Peppers and Onions, Fried Eggs, Cheddar Cheese and Spicy Ranchero Sauce

Short Rib Benedict: Tender Braised Short Rib with Mushrooms and Onions on Crispy Potato Cakes Topped with Poached Eggs and Hollandaise Sauce. Served with Sliced Tomatoes

Belgian Waffle: Available with Fresh Strawberries or Blueberries

Chilaquiles: Eggs Scrambled with Tortilla Chips, Red and Yellow Peppers, Chiles, Onion and Tomato Covered with Ranchero Sauce, Corn, Black Beans, Avocado, Cilantro and Pepper-Jack Cheese.

Notice that curve-ball on the eggs benedict -- short ribs!

My choices at a recent media event.

"The Best" Eggs Benedict with Ham and Hollandaise
"The Best" Eggs Benedict with Ham and Hollandaise

"The Best" Eggs Benedict is a classic Benedict with soft and runny poached eggs bathed in Hollandaise Sauce set on earthy, chewy ham and a crusty, glutinous muffin. Simply delicious.

Whole Egg Omelette
Whole Egg Omelette

For the Whole Egg or Egg White Omelette the moll chose the whole egg. The four choices are selected from assorted mushrooms, asparagus, tri-colored peppers, onions, bacon, ham, tomato, artichokes, fresh spinach, Cheddar, Jack or Havarti. All served with hash browns. A great omelette.

"The Best" Carrot Cake

"The Best" Carrot Cake came with ethereal citrus cream cheese icing and was taller than the Galleria Mall where Grand Lux is situated. It is a true treat when it is time to reward yourself. And maybe that is now!
