FROM THE WIRES...
Both Graham's Six Grapes Reserve Port and the Six Grapes ‘Special Vila Velha Edition’ tell a compelling narrative of tradition, craftsmanship, and the unique terroir of the Douro Valley.
The story of Six Grapes begins with the symbol itself, used by Graham's winemakers in the 19th century to identify and mark the finest barrels, often destined for Vintage Port. This symbol eventually became Graham's Six Grapes Reserve Port, a wine that captures the essence of those top-tier selections.
Graham's Six Grapes Reserve Port (SRP $29) is a benchmark of quality, a rich and full-bodied Ruby Port with the depth and character of a young Vintage Port. Epicureans and oenophiles alike know this versatile wine to offer a classic pairing with chocolate. Aged for two years in seasoned oak vats which preserve its youthful, fruity character, Six Grapes is bottled relatively young in order to retain its freshness and characteristic opulence. As a result, it offers a lift on the palate, perfect to cut through and complement the richness of chocolate. A blend of four indigenous Douro grape varieties—Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca, Six Grapes is sourced from the same four vineyards that contribute to Graham’s legendary Vintage Ports.

Graham's Six Grapes ‘Special Vila Velha Edition’(SRP $45) is a limited bottling, drawn exclusively from the finest grapes grown at Quinta da Vila Velha. The property was purchased by the late third-generation Port producer, James Symington, in 1987. For over three decades, James restored and extended the quinta into a well-tended 350 acre riverside property with 135 acres under vine. This edition honors his legacy and contribution to developing the original Six Grapes label. With its privileged position on the south bank of the Douro River, Vila Velha produces well-structured and balanced wines that form key components of Graham’s Vintage Ports. This special wine offers floral fragrances of pine resin and eucalyptus, alongside an opulent palate of concentrated black fruits.
While the Reserve Port represents the classic expression of Six Grapes, the ‘Special Vila Velha Edition’ showcases the unique character of a specific vineyard and a tribute to a significant figure in Graham's history. Both are excellent examples of Graham's commitment to quality and tradition.
