Historic winery highlights its decades-long leadership in Sonoma County’s Knights Valley AVA during 150th Anniversary

St. Helena, CA—June 22, 2026—As part of its 150th anniversary celebration, Beringer Vineyards, one of Napa Valley’s most historic wineries, announces the debut of its first-ever wine tasting experience dedicated exclusively to the Knights Valley American Viticulture Area (AVA) in Sonoma County: The Knights Valley Expressions Tour & Tasting. Alongside the launch, the winery introduces a new Knights Valley Expressions wine collection featuring single-vineyard and varietal bottlings designed to showcase the distinctive terroir of the region Beringer has helped define and champion since the 1960s. The Knights Valley Expressions Tour & Tasting, priced at $65 per person, is now open for reservations at www.beringer.com.

The Knights Valley Tour & Tasting begins with a walk through Beringer’s demonstration vineyard and historic, 150-year-old caves, followed by a guided tasting of five wines. Featured selections include the Beringer Mountain Rosé of Malbec, Mallacomes Petit Verdot, Teviot Springs Cabernet Sauvignon, Knights Valley Reserve, and the nationally distributed Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Additional wines from the Beringer Knights Valley Expressions collection will debut in the coming months, including Mallacomes Cabernet Franc, Mallacomes Malbec, and Newman Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wines bearing the Mallacomes designation are blends crafted from Beringer’s vineyards in the Knights Valley region, named for the original Spanish term for Mt. St. Helena, which overlooks the valley. In contrast, Teviot Springs and Newman Ranch represent the winery’s newest single-vineyard expressions, highlighting the character of specific vineyard sites within Knights Valley.

“Teviot Springs and Newman Ranch represent two very unique expressions of Knights Valley,” said Director of Winemaking Margo Van Staaveren. “On the southern slopes of Knights Valley, Teviot Springs offers the combination of elevation, volcanic soils, and a cooler, east-facing aspect producing wines with depth, structure, and layered spice. In contrast, Newman Ranch is situated at the northern edge of the valley where it retains exceptional freshness and acidity, bringing brightness and lift to the wines. Together, they allow us to showcase the diversity of the region in a more precise and compelling way.”

Located in the northeastern corner of Sonoma County in the Mayacamas foothills, Knights Valley remains one of Northern California’s most pristine winegrowing regions. Beringer Vineyards has farmed its vineyards here since the mid-1960s, recognizing early on the potential of the area’s rocky, volcanic soils to produce high-quality grapes. In collaboration with fellow growers, the winery helped establish Knights Valley as an official AVA in 1983. Today, with 640 acres divided into three different estate vineyards, Beringer is the AVA’s largest winegrower. Its warm days and cool nights add structure and elegance to the wine and the region is known for flavor complexity, with distinct notes of lavender, boysenberry, and thyme.
