Bacigalupi Vineyards Comes To Town

by Andrew Chalk
At this difficult time for wineries, one California family-run winery decided to do a change of marketing tactics and come out and see their customers. Bacigalupi Vineyards, from the Russian River Valley section of Sonoma, sent out owners Pam Bacigalupi and daughter Nicole for meet-and-greets, and Dallas was on the list.
Bacigalupi is known for providing some of the grapes for the Montelena Chardonnay that won The Judgement of Paris in 1976. They make wine from the same vineyard today, along with three other vineyards acquired over time.
At Cibo Divino in downtown Dallas they recently took the public, friends, and wine club members through a tasting of some of their current wines. I attended as a media guest.

Here is the compelling list of wines that we tasted. Nicole Bacigalupi took us through each one in turn while Pam provided additional commentary.

Starting with a fresh and well-balanced 2025 Rosé of Pinot Noir and finishing with a powerful and complex 2024 Petite Sirah. All the wines were fine examples of their type and if I had to pick a favorite to drink now my vote would go to the 2024 Estate Pinot Noir. It is ripe, earthy, herbal, and soft. Tasting like a much more mature wine than its vintage suggests. Bacigalupi is known for their Pinot Noir wines and their grapes are so good that they actually sell them to other wineries (recall we recently tasted wines from Davis Bynum and they make a Bacigalupi Pinot Noir).
It was a fun-filled and educational evening and it is great to see winemakers showing the courage to personally go out and visit their customers around the country. To order any of these wines go to the winery web site (linked above). There is still time to receive the wines in time for Thanksgiving dinner.
