WINE REVIEW: Tree Fort 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Barbara Co.,CA ($17)

by Andrew Chalk

FROM THE WIRES…

Aromatics jump out of the glass with honeydew layered over tropical notes of passion fruit, guava and kiwi. On the palate, this wine has a mellow acidity with soft floral flavors and hints of fresh parsley. The finish is mild with a smooth touch of grapefruit.

WINEMAKER NOTES

Bright & crisp TREEFORTWINES.COM Aromatics jump out of the glass with honeydew layered over tropical notes of passion fruit, guava and kiwi. On the palate, this wine has a mellow acidity with soft floral flavors and hints of fresh parsley. The finish is mild with a smooth touch of grapefruit. The 2020 growing season in Santa Barbara had optimal temperatures with a lack of Spring rain and wind leading to a promising fruit set. Harvest was impacted by wildfires and heatwaves, making acidity lower, but the quality and character of the fruit was maintained. After grapes were harvested, they were gently pressed to stainless steel for fermentation.

FOOD PAIRINGS

A perfect complement to herb-driven dishes, pair with fresh pesto pasta, falafel, thai-style beef with basil and chilis, or couscous salad with salmon. Enjoy poolside on a warm afternoon or as a rejuvenating end to a day on the slopes.
