WINE REVIEW: Texas Hills Vineyard 2016 Kick Butt Cab Cabernet Sauvignon,

andychalk

Estate Grown and Bottled, Texas Hill Country ($25)

by Andrew Chalk

There are now over 70 producing wineries in the Texas Hill Country AVA. One of the oldest is Texas Hills Vineyard. Their ‘Kick Butt’ Cabernet has a devoted following.

This vintage has a crimson core and brown rim. The nose is part plum, part forest floor, and part wood. In the mouth the tannins have started to soften, the fruit is confirmed and the wine full-bodied on the palate.

Most wines made in The Texas Hill Country use grapes from the Texas High Plains. This is one of the few that uses Hill Country fruit.

Availability is best from the winery web site.
