WINE REVIEW: Ron Yates 2016 Tempranillo ‘The Ghost’, Estate Grown, Texas Hill Country ($∞)

andychalk

by Andrew Chalk

A one-off Tempranillo aged in 100% new French oak from Boutes. This opaque ruby and plum colored wine has an intense nose of Tempranillo fruit, oak, and black pepper. On the palate it is still young, reflected in formidable tannins and voluble fruit that indicates the interaction with the oak.

I would hold this for a decade to see how it evolves.

Note the distinctive label.

Sample.
