WINE REVIEW: Podere Sapaio 2021 Volpolo, Bolgheri DOC, Italy ($37)

andychalk

by Andrew Chalk

A blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, and cabernet franc. Very refined and complex in a modern, New World style. A young wine in its present state of development. It will be intriguing to see the secondary and tertiary attributes that develop.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Opaque purple;

Nose: Herbaceous, pencil lead, blackberry, French oak, forest floor;

Palate: Very grippy tannins, fine tannins, cedar, blackberry fruit;

Sample.
