WINE REVIEW: Pine Ridge Sparkling Chenin Blanc/Viognier, California, ($18)

andychalk

by Andrew Chalk

This Pine Ridge blend of 96% Chenin Blanc and 4% Viognier presents the honeyed tastes and crispness of Chenin Blanc and the body and aromatics of Viognier in a fresh sparkling wine made with the metodo Martinotti (Charmat) method. Drink it as a wine of celebration or pair it with a broad selection of foods including white-fleshed fish, salads, cream soups, or poultry.

Appearance: Light straw. Active tiny bubbles long lasting;

Nose: Light yeast, lime, green apple;

Palate: Expansive fruit flavors, vibrant acidity. Dry to the point that it would probably be classified as a brut.

Sample.
