WINE REVIEW: Pellegrini 2018 Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, CA ($30)

The Pellegrini winery produces a full range of wines from their home region of Sonoma County. This Pinot Noir really shows their work to full effect. It is classic Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, gushing with fruit and up front likability.

Reasonably priced but based on a studious provenance. The grapes come from the sub AVAs of Sebastopol Hills, Green Valley, and Santa Rosa Plains.

I would pair with duck, pasta with white sauce, salmon for those inclined to serve red wine with fish, or just quaff in front of your current choice of binge-watching.

Appearance: Translucent purple and ruby;

Nose: Herbal, red fruit of cherry. Touch of spiciness;

Palate: Vibrant acidity, intense fruit, medium plus alcohol;

Sample.
