Talbott 2018 Chardonnay Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, Estate Grown, Santa Lucia Highlands, CA ($34)
Talbott 2019 Chardonnay Kali Hart, Estate Grown, Monterey Co., CA ($16)
Both of these wines actually source their fruit from the company’s Sleepy Hollow Vineyard. The former is a lush, fat, fruity chardonnay typical of the style synonymous and popularised by California. The latter leaner, racier, with a simpler structure that nonetheless delivers as a very enjoyable wint to quaff or pair with poultry, fish, or white-sauced pasta.
The Sleepy Hollow Vineyard is big in every sense but retains enough acid and phenolic backbone to retain attention throughout the meal. The flavors of mango, lemon, vanilla and cream soda.
