WINE REVIEW Mount Veeder Winery 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, CA ($45)

andychalk

by Andrew Chalk

Appearance: Opaque ruby;

Nose: Blackberries, licorice, French oak, rosemary;

Palate: Arresting tannins, vibrant acid, full-bodied, slightly herbaceous. Fruit explodes in mouth and powers the long smooth finish;

Very typical of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with its herbaceous notes. Grippy tannins indicate a long life. If you drink it now it is best with fatty red meat (e.g. ribeye, brisket).

Reasonably priced for Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.
