by Andrew Chalk

Maggy Hawk, a winery in the Jackson Family Wines portfolio, is dedicated to producing expressions of pinot noir. Located in the north of Mendocino County, the winery sources grapes from Mendocino and Oregon’s Dundee Hills. The Edmeades Vineyard, just north of Philo in Anderson Valley, is planted with pinot noir clone 777 in clay soil on a gentle slope and was established in 1963. Maggy Hawk picks these vineyards slightly early (around 23 brix) in order to make their white pinot noir. 360 cases produced.

Appearance: Mid-gold;

Nose: Lemon, wet stone, green apple and honey;

Palate: Medium-plus acid. Good body. Orange marmalade. Pronounced phenolic grip.
