A current release and also the first vintage of J’s blanc de blancs (white wine from white grapes) made from 100% chardonnay. It is a good start, this wine is a solid alternative to Champagne for serious celebration or (my choice) pairing, as the champenoise do, through the meal from hors d’oeuvres to cheese course.
Appearance: Bright silver straw, percolating with a fine bead of bubbles;
Nose: Light yeast and green apples. Hints of lemon and white peach;
Taste: Brave bold core. Phenolic grip is a point of interest. Fruit flavors come through, punctuated by the sparkling effervescence. Vibrant acid presages pairing with many foods, even heavy sauces and formidable flavors like lobster.
Sample.
