WINE REVIEW: 2016 Frescobaldi, Castiglioni, Chianti DOCG, Italy ($14)

by Andrew Chalk

This value-priced wine is a good example of the Chianti category for those not familiar with it.

The color is bright ruby. The intensity is medium, meaning that the wine is not fully opaque. The nose is strawberry, tomato leaf, and black pepper. In the mouth the wine is fruit forward with the strawberry predominant and a layer of grippy tannin. The tannin is medium length and straightforward.

Sample.
