WINE REVIEW: 2016 Chateau Bu-De, '1660 Red Blend', Pennsylvania

andychalk

by Andrew Chalk

Appearance: Garnet color red, translucent core;

Nose: Raspberry

Palate: Chewy tannins. Medium acid. Raspberry, mint, coconut, black pepper;

Overall: A pleasant medium-bodied red wine that would likely be best paired with steak or prime rib. Should be drunk now.

Backstory: This blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot is made from Pennsylvania grapes by a winery based in Chesapeake City, Maryland. The label describes it as their ‘left bank Bordeaux’.
