Appearance: Dark ruby with opaque core and rim;
Nose: Briary, dark fruit (blackberry, black cherry), cedar, black pepper;
Palate: Bright acid, firm tannins, intense fruit-driven flavors of blackberry and black cherry. Weighty mouthfeel and long fruit-driven finish.
Overall: I would pair this today with lamb or brisket. Likely not keep it because although it has the tannins to age I doubt that it would be better than in the exuberant youth in which it finds itself now.
This winery was founded by successful racing driver and team owner Kevin Buckler. I won’t hold it against him that he has never run a team in Formula 1 as he has won the 24 hours of Le Mans and the 24 hours of Daytona (4 times!). He brings the same precision required in car preparation to this wine. Don't be misled by the steering knob attachment. This is a serious wine: open, lush, highly enjoyable.
Blend: 35% Zinfandel, 30% Barbera, 13% Grenache, 12% Petite Sirah, 10% Carignane.
