Trivento Reserve Malbec 2021 in Celebration of Malbec World Day - Part 2 ($11)

FROM THE WIRES...

On April 17, wine lovers around the world celebrate Malbec World Day, an international tribute to Argentinian Malbec. At Bodega Trivento, the largest B Corp certified company in the Argentinian agricultural sector and the Argentina’s #1 wine brand worldwide (IWSR value sales since 2020), this day honors the rich history of Mendoza as well as looks forward to pioneering the future of sustainable winemaking.

One of only five certified B Corp wineries in Argentina, Trivento adheres to rigorous business, social and environmental standards within its operations, supply chain and community—a triple-impact model that is a rarity and triumph for a brand operating at this scale. The winery’s commitment to the people and land of Mendoza makes it a shining example of what the region has to offer.

This wine is vegan-certified. Most wine undergoes a process called fining which removes sediment ensuring the final product is clear and not hazy. This clarification process commonly uses fining agents derived from animal byproducts. Certified-vegan wine either uses plant-based fining agents or self-clarifies over a longer period of time.

Winemaker Maximiliano “Maxi” Ortiz crafts the 2021 Reserve Malbec from primarily estate fruit. Contemporary and elegant, the Reserve’s quality has earned the wine ‘Best Buy’ accolades ten times. Perfectly balanced fruit, oak and acidity, and a velvety tannin finish make this bottling emblematic of Argentina’s signature variety. Exemplifying Trivento’s commitment to sustainability, each bottle of Trivento Reserve Malbec provides a QR code that directs consumers to Wine Compass, a proprietary digital platform that details technical information as well as the story of each wine.

TASTING NOTES

Full forward dark fruit of blackberries and notes of fig in the nose. Same open fruit in the mouth. Hints of wood. Grippy tannins. Good value.
