The Italian Sparkling Rosé That Stands Out from the Rest: Valdo Floral Rosé Brut

FROM THE WIRES...

Sparkling wine. It’s been the fastest growing wine subcategory for the last two years, growing by over 13% in 2021, according to data from Nielsen and Drizly. But with so many options to choose from, how are producers making their wines stand out in the crowd? How can casual consumers discern one bottle to buy when there are so many on the shelf?

Valdo Winery, located in the Italian wine-growing region of Valdobbiadene in the region of Veneto, has been a driving force behind the Prosecco category since its founding in 1926. Its legacy of category innovation remains paramount today with special edition packaging that’s been artfully crafted to catch the eye, backed up by quality sparkling rosé inside the bottle.

This unique bottle was commissioned to Italian designer Fabrizio Sclavi, one of the world’s most visionary artists who has worked with some of the most prestigious fashion magazines, companies and artists. The design aims to rediscover a new well-being by reconnecting with nature. This is the fourth special edition by Valdo, devoted to the world of flowers and the wild. The bottle is reimagined each year with an original illustration and a different theme, in line with changing trends.

What’s inside the bottle is just as special: a blend of two native Italian grape varieties, Glera, the white variety used in the production of Prosecco, and Nerello Mascalese, a red variety that thrives in the warm maritime climate of Sicily. The skillful blending of the two creates a rosé with an intense fruity and floral bouquet, low alcohol, and exuberant bubbles.
