Tequila Enemigo started distribution in Texas a few months ago and used a media event this week to shout out the fact to Dallas, combining it with a celebration of World Paloma Day (May 22nd).Â
With two events to celebrate, they decided to do it in style. Adrián López of Mexico City cult cocktail bar Hanky Panky was brought in and they took over The Tipsy Alchemist, the emerging kool kocktail bar of Uptown Dallas (you know it’s cool because the head mixologist has cornrow hair braids!). Â

Suitably enough, the cocktails on offer were three very different creations, each showcasing Tequila Enemigo in a different way. It’s classified information but my favorite was the Fancy Cantarito. Partly because of the grapefruit flavor but also because the Enemigo expression it used was the cristalino. Cristalino is super smooth because it is añejo (oak aged at least a year) that has been filtered through charcoal to remove the brown color. The result is an exceptionally smooth tequila, with the transparency of a blanco. According to the Tequila Enemigo representative that I spoke to, it is all the rage in Mexico City at the moment.

Currently, Tequila Enemigo has cristalino and extra añejo expressions in the USA. Silver and Reposado are coming in the next year. On premises stockists are the usual suspects of Nick & Sam’s, The Mexican, and other high-end meat temples. Off-premise, look in specialty stores like Pogo’s, Dallas Fine Wines, etc. Â
