The culinarily unique city of New Orleans is so easy to reach from Dallas, it would be a pity to miss some of the special things happening there this summer.

No-Cook Recipes: Two-time semifinalist for James Beard: Best Chef South, Honduran native Melissa Araujo says to beat the heat during the summer months whip up no-cook recipes. Whether it’s making carpaccios out of seasonal produce like tomatoes or strawberries, or using fresh seafood for ceviches, crudos, and aguachiles, these dishes minimize the heat from ovens and stoves but are still super impressive for entertaining.

James Beard: Best Chef South and author of Kweyol/Creole Nina Compton says, “Summer is about embracing the bounty of the season and getting creative with the incredible ingredients we get this time of year.” From pickled pineapple tartar sauce, which she says goes great with any type of fritters or seafood, to her famed roasted jerk corn, the St. Lucian Chef adds bold flavor to summer produce.
