FROM THE WIRES...
The days are longer and the grass is greener, meaning spring is finally here! In the spirit of the new season, we’d like to introduce you to the latest spring releases from Gehricke Wines.
Fourth generation vintner August Sebastiani developed Gehricke as an homage to the local Sonoma countryside he grew up exploring and the dusty roads that led to forgotten vineyards and properties. Gehricke is a tribute to one such famous road, and the small-lot, minimal-intervention wines celebrate those hidden pockets of vineyards throughout Sonoma.
Below are current releases available for your sampling consideration:
· Gehricke 2022 Los Carneros Rosé (SRP $29) – A swirl of this pale salmon rosé opens with a soft floral bouquet accompanied by scents of lime zest, fresh cut grass, and strawberry. Balanced and bright, the palate provides enticing flavors of summer berries with a burst of juicy lychee. These lush notes and a touch of creaminess lead to a lasting, dry finish
· Gehricke 2022 Sonoma Mountain Sauvignon Blanc (SRP: $29) – This pale straw offering springs to life with aromas of sweet jasmine and orange blossoms underscored by notes of lime oil and zesty citrus. On the palate, round, cleansing flavors of white peach and ripe melon along with notes of lavender are complemented by a delicate touch of viscosity. A balanced acidity leads to an invigorating finish.
· Gehricke 2021 Russian River Valley Chardonnay (SRP: $29) – Aromas of fresh spring flowers intermingle with hints of ripe melons, tropical fruits, and baking spices. On the palate, notes of mango, guava, white peach and grapefruit are layered with touches of fresh lemon tart, dried coconut, and roasted macadamia nuts. A smooth texture and vibrant acidity add to the long, crisp finish.
· Gehricke 2020 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (SRP: $29) – This pale ruby Pinot Noir greets the nose with lively aromas of ripe blackberry, white pepper, and earthy wild mushrooms. On the palate, distinctive notes of freshly baked old-fashioned cherry pie and dark berries are interlaced with hints of cocoa and roasted walnuts. A long, smooth finish with lingering spicy notes.
Gehricke Wines are nationally available and featured at the winery’s newly reopened tasting room in the historic 3 Badge firehouse in downtown Sonoma.
