FROM THE WIRES...

Marlowe has officially opened its doors to the public yesterday in Uptown Dallas!

Located at 2912 McKinney Avenue, Marlowe is a new intimate, design-forward evening destination bringing together inventive cocktails, elevated light bites, intuitive hospitality, curated sound and immersive design in an experience created around the art of a memorable night.

Rather than fitting neatly into the traditional definition of a restaurant, cocktail bar or late-night venue, Marlowe is an elevated lounge experience designed to evolve throughout the evening. Guests can arrive early for cocktails and a few plates, settle in over food and conversation, stop by after dinner or stay as the music builds and the energy of the room shifts later into the night.  As the team puts it: The Evening Is Our Craft.

HIGHLIGHTS

About Marlowe:

  • Officially NOW OPEN in Uptown Dallas at 2912 McKinney Avenue

  • An elevated lounge experience designed around the belief that guests shouldn’t have to choose between bites or cocktails, conversation or celebration, an intimate evening or a vibrant night

  • Food, cocktails, music, conversation and late-night energy are designed as interconnected parts of the experience, allowing the evening itself to become the destination

  • Created around a simple philosophy: The Evening Is Our Craft.

The Marlowe Penguin:

  • Marlowe’s signature penguin has a personal story behind it: Partner Alon Abramov and his wife, Cara, frequently visit the Dallas Zoo with their son, who loves seeing the penguins

  • While developing Marlowe, Abramov kept returning to the penguin as a character that embodied the concept—a naturally refined animal that appears to be dressed in a tuxedo, but also has an unexpected, playful personality.

  • That balance of sophistication and playfulness ultimately became the inspiration for the penguin woven throughout Marlowe’s visual identity.

Food + Culinary Program:

  • Culinary program led by Chef Vidal Cantu, who joins Marlowe from beloved Dallas restaurant Gemma

  • A curated menu of elevated light bites designed to work just as naturally alongside a cocktail as they do as a larger part of the evening

  • Entire culinary menu is prepared without seed oils

  • Highlights include:

    • Cappelletti in Brodo with braised short rib, ricotta, confit garlic and beef consommé

    • Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with watermelon gazpacho, scallion curls and herb oil

    • Lil’ Schnitz with crispy thinly sliced chicken breast and a trio of sauces

    • Chicken or Beef Skewers grilled over hot charcoal

    • Mini Bourekas with potato, caviar and brown butter aioli

    • Feta Dip, Pickle Party, Caesar Salad, caviar offerings and more

    • Tiramisu with espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream and chocolate pearls

  • Marlowe also partnered with Dallas-based ceramic artist Marcello Andres Ortega to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces for the culinary program, adding another layer of local craftsmanship and personality to the experience.

Cocktail Program:

  • Led by Beverage Director Kyle Buckelew, with a program rooted in classic technique while incorporating seasonal ingredients, global influences and unexpected flavor combinations

  • Signature cocktails include:

    • Breakfast Club – brown butter-washed rum, crème de banane, maple orgeat, lime and bitters

    • Stacy’s Mom – strawberry tequila, cacao, Ancho Reyes, lime and mole bitters

    • Tokyo Hi-Fi – toasted sesame-infused Japanese whisky, toasted rice, umami bitters and orange

    • Espresso Dulce – salted caramel vodka, espresso, dulce de leche and Demerara

    • Sub Zero Martini – Belvedere vodka, bianco and dry vermouth, umami bitters and orange bitters

  • Playful large-format experiences include Something to Take the Edge Off, a dirty vodka martini service accompanied by Caesar salad and fries for up to four guests, and Spill the Tea, which transforms Marlowe’s High Tea cocktail into a tea service for the table.

Design:

  • Interiors by Duncan Design Group, featuring dramatic wood-vaulted ceilings, sculpted architectural forms, marble, antique mirror, brass detailing, jewel-toned materials, plush banquettes and velvet seating.

  • Layered lighting evolves throughout the evening, while a velvet-draped stage creates a focal point for performance-driven moments

Music + The Evening Experience:

  • Music is a foundational part of Marlowe rather than simply background entertainment

  • Under Music Programming Director Garrett Swain, curated sound and performance-driven elements are integrated throughout the guest experience

  • Music, lighting, service and spatial design work together so the energy of the room can naturally progress throughout the evening.
