FROM THE WIRES....
Prats + Symington is a partnership between Symington Family Estates, one of Portugal's oldest Port producing families, and Bruno Prats, the former winemaker and owner of Chateau Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux. Together they produce wines from only the finest grapes and favored estates in the Douro since their founding in 1999.
The first Prats + Symington wine was 2000 Chryseia which received widespread acclaim. Powerful but elegant and balanced with depth and great finesse, Chryseia was recognized as a new style of red wine from the Douro. Since then Chryseia and its second wine, Post Scriptum, alongside Prats + Symington’s Prazo de Roriz, have been instrumental in driving forward the high-quality Douro red table wine evolution of the region.

Best Wine of the Year - 2026
Chryseia is our finest expression of the Douro Valley terroir. Made with great care and attention to detail at our winery at Quinta de Roriz, Chryseia represents our two families' commitment to producing the most elegant wine from two hallmark Douro grapes: Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca.

The year A remarkably wet winter replenished water levels in the soil, which helped the vines through a relatively dry summer with largely average temperatures – in contrast to much of Europe. Harvest conditions were close to perfect thanks to some well-timed rain
The wine The 2023 is wonderfully fresh with great poise and precision – an elegant expression of the Douro.
Grape Varieties 72% Touriga Nacional | 28% Touriga Franca
Ageing15 months in 400 litre French oak barrels

“ We strive to achieve balance, finesse, and elegance in our wines. ”
Bruno Prats
TASTING NOTES
Totally opaque. A tightly knit nose of ripe red fruit in the nose (raspberry confiture), leather, allspice, oak. On the palate grippy tannins, ripe fruit, flashes of French oak. The fruits amplify in the finish. At the current time this is unequivocally a youthful wine and possessed of such structure and fruit that one is left flummoxed regarding when it will peak. Certainly, drinking the stock now would be infanticide.
Sample.
