KENT RATHBUN’S CURBSIDE BBQ OPENS AT KLYDE WARREN PARK

FROM THE WIRES...

The Beloved Chef’s BBQ Trailer Has Moved from the Katy Trail to Klyde Warren and Is Now Slinging Brisket and Ribs

DALLAS—Over the past 25 years, Kent Rathbun has left an indelible mark on the Dallas food scene, first with award-winning restaurants like Abacus and Jasper’s, and most recently with his mobile barbecue operation. Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ launched during the pandemic, offering drive-up smoked meats to diners hungry for great food during strange times. After a stint parked along the Katy Trail, Rathbun has moved the operation to Klyde Warren Park, where he’s now serving food Thursdays through Sundays beginning at 8 a.m.

Klyde Warren Park splits Uptown and Downtown and provides a welcoming atmosphere and green space for the community. It features the largest roster of food trucks in DFW, and supplements the diverse food selection with live music, movie nights and a rotating schedule of activities and games. The debut of Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ gives the area an immediate infusion of top-quality meat and sides, perfect for enjoying in the park or picking up to take home or back to the office.

“Chef Kent Rathbun is a Dallas institution who has long been prized for his gourmet chops at top notch restaurants like Abacus and in national competitions like “Iron Chef America,” said Kit Sawers, President and CEO of Klyde Warren Park.  “To now have him offering his delicious BBQ regularly at the Park is a credit to the high standards set by our current food trucks and takes us to a whole new level.”

The menu is loaded with favorites and best-sellers, including pecan-smoked wagyu beef ribs, beef tenderloin and brisket, plus jalapeño-cheddar sausages, smoked turkey breast and cedar plank salmon. Mains are complemented by thoughtful sides, like aged gouda mac and cheese, baked potato salad, granny smith apple cole slaw and maple brown sugar baked beans. The trailer opens at 8 a.m., so if you’re there early, be sure to try the breakfast tacos — there’s no better way to start your day.

“Klyde Warren Park is the premier gathering place in Dallas, so we couldn’t ask for a better location to serve our barbecue,” said Kent Rathbun. “We feel fortunate that our barbecue concept has been so well received by our friends and neighbors, and we’re excited to share it with even more customers near and far.”

Kent Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ is open at Klyde Warren Park Thursdays through Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, please visit rathbunscurbsidebbq.com

I’m thrilled to hear about Kent Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ opening at Klyde Warren Park! BBQ enthusiasts are in for a treat. As someone who loves exploring different styles of BBQ, I highly recommend trying Argentine cuisine alongside this new offering. Argentine Asado, known for its unique grilling techniques and incredible flavors, would be a fantastic addition to any BBQ experience. The slow-cooked meats over an open flame bring out the best in beef, pork, and more. You can find excellent recipes and grilling tips on the Argentine Asado blog. Mixing Kent Rathbun’s BBQ with Argentine flavors could create a truly unforgettable culinary adventure!
