FROM THE WIRES...
Cinematic interiors, elevated cocktails, thoughtfully crafted food, intuitive hospitality and curated sound come together in an intimate new concept designed around the art of a memorable night
DALLAS, TX (August 13, 2026) - Marlowe, a new intimate, design-forward cocktail lounge and evening destination, is preparing to make its debut in Uptown Dallas this September, introducing a richly layered hospitality experience where design, food, cocktails, music and service have been conceived to work together as one.
Built around a foundational idea—that how a place makes you feel matters as much as how it looks—Marlowe is designed to meet guests wherever the evening takes them. From an early evening bite and cocktails to a post-dinner drink or a late-night bite, Marlowe offers a destination that can become part of the evening in whatever way the occasion calls for.
As Dallas continues to evolve as a hospitality destination, Marlowe arrives intentionally scaled for connection and designed for repeat visits rather than a singular moment. The ambition is not simply to become somewhere guests go, but somewhere they develop a relationship with—a destination for celebrations, spontaneous evenings, lingering conversations and nights without a predetermined ending.
From the moment guests arrive, every element—from the lighting and architecture to the food, cocktails, cadence of service, curated sound and atmosphere of the room—has been deliberately orchestrated to shape the experience. Rather than building the concept around a singular spectacle, Marlowe is designed through hundreds of intentional details that reveal themselves over time, creating an atmosphere that feels elevated yet warm, immersive yet personal, and distinctly its own.
At the center of Marlowe is Alon Abramov, Partner, a Dallas-based hospitality entrepreneur with more than a decade of experience developing and operating hospitality concepts. For Abramov, Marlowe represents both a professional evolution and the culmination of a philosophy he has developed throughout his career: exceptional hospitality is never accidental, but rather created through the careful orchestration of details that collectively determine how a guest feels.
Music has long played an important role in Abramov’s creative perspective. A drummer from an early age, his appreciation for rhythm, production and the emotional connection created by carefully curated environments has continued to influence his approach to hospitality. At Marlowe, music, atmosphere, lighting, service and design are considered interconnected elements of the guest experience.
“Marlowe started with one question I’ve carried throughout my career: how should a guest feel the moment they walk through the door?” said Abramov. “We’ve approached every decision through that lens. The lighting, music, design, cocktails, service and energy of the room all have to work together. We’re not interested in creating the biggest room—we want to create one of the most memorable, and a place people feel connected to enough to return to again and again.”
Bringing that philosophy to Marlowe’s day-to-day guest experience is Thomas Menaitreau, Operating Partner & General Manager, who oversees operations, team development, service standards and culture. Born and raised in Strasbourg, France, Menaitreau was formally trained in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management and has held leadership positions at acclaimed and Michelin-recognized restaurants including Fiola and Bresca in Washington, D.C., and Joël Robuchon in Las Vegas.
At Marlowe, Menaitreau pairs the precision of luxury hospitality with an approach rooted in personalization, anticipation and genuine human connection. His leadership emphasizes emotional intelligence, accountability and empowering teams to deliver service that feels intuitive rather than rehearsed.
“At Marlowe, every element should contribute to how a guest remembers the evening—not individually, but collectively,” said Menaitreau. “Our vision is to pair refinement with warmth and create an atmosphere where excellence feels natural, personal and never overly formal. Ultimately, we want every guest to leave feeling better than when they arrived.”
That shared philosophy informed Marlowe from the earliest stages of its development. Instead of treating design, food, beverage, service and entertainment as separate amenities, each has been conceived as part of one interconnected experience—an evening that feels considered from the moment guests arrive.
Brought to life by Duncan Design Group, Marlowe’s interiors draw inspiration from cinematic storytelling and Art Deco influence, creating a richly layered environment defined by texture, depth and light. A dramatic façade anchored by a grand arched entry framed in warm illumination establishes a sense of intrigue and understated glamour before guests ever step inside. An enclosed glass-and-brass patio extends the experience outdoors, where a birdcage-inspired structure of repeating arches, golden framework and soft amber lighting creates a jewel-box effect after dark.
Beyond the entrance, the room unfolds through dramatic wood-vaulted ceilings, curved architectural forms and sculpted alcoves, with tiered seating designed to create intimacy while maintaining movement and energy throughout the space. Layered lighting traces the room’s architectural lines, creating an interplay of shadow and warmth that shifts with the rhythm of the evening. Marble and antique mirror-clad bar installations with backlit shelving provide dramatic visual anchors, while jewel-toned materials, antique brass detailing, plush banquettes and velvet seating introduce warmth and richness. At the center of the room, a velvet-draped stage framed by sweeping curved walls serves as a focal point for performance-driven moments, with layered seating arranged to maintain sightlines throughout the room.
Food is designed to play an equally intentional role in the Marlowe experience, giving guests the flexibility to stop in for a bite and cocktails or make the menu part of a longer evening. A defining element of Marlowe’s culinary approach is its commitment to preparing the entire food menu without seed oils, bringing the same level of intention applied to the guest experience to the ingredients and techniques used in the kitchen. Early tastes include Charred Matagorda Pearl Oysters, featuring Texas oysters flame-charred with garlic-lemon butter and finished with fresh parsley, and Beef Skewers, with marinated shaved beef kissed by charcoal and paired with sumac tahini yogurt.
Completing Marlowe’s core leadership team is Beverage Director Kyle Buckelew, who brings nearly two decades of hospitality experience and an extensive background developing beverage programs across Dallas. Most recently, Buckelew led the bar team at Delilah Dallas, where he helped shape the beverage experience for the restaurant’s Dallas opening. Prior to Delilah, he played an instrumental role in developing the beverage program for Hotel Swexan and earlier served as General Manager and Creative Director of The Mitchell.
At Marlowe, Buckelew is developing a cocktail program that balances innovation with accessibility. Rooted in classic technique, the cocktail menu will draw from seasonal ingredients, global influences and unexpected flavor combinations that encourage discovery without sacrificing drinkability. Among the cocktails guests can expect is a decadent take on the Espresso Martini, combining salted caramel vodka, dulce de leche, espresso and Demerara syrup for a rich yet balanced interpretation of the familiar favorite.
Like every element of Marlowe, the cocktail program has been considered in relation to the experience around it, complementing the design, food, music and atmosphere rather than existing independently from them.
Music is equally foundational to Abramov’s vision for Marlowe. Led by Music Programming Director Garrett Swain, also known as DJ Zillamatic, curated sound programming, immersive musical moments and performance-driven elements will be integrated into the guest experience, complementing the atmosphere and allowing the rhythm and energy of the room to evolve naturally throughout the evening.
Rather than functioning simply as background entertainment, sound has been considered alongside lighting, service and spatial design as one of the elements that determines how the room feels from one moment to the next. The approach allows the music to respond naturally to the room and the occasion, creating moments of progression and discovery while preserving the intimacy and sophistication of the space.
It is a deliberate approach that reflects Marlowe’s larger philosophy: memorable evenings are rarely created by one moment alone. They are built through the cumulative effect of what guests see, hear, taste and feel.
Together, Abramov, Menaitreau and Buckelew bring distinct perspectives to Marlowe while sharing a common belief: the details guests remember most are often the ones they never consciously noticed. That attention to detail is intended to carry throughout the entire experience—from the first impression at the arched entrance and the warmth of a returning guest’s welcome to the first bite, the cocktail in hand, the shift in lighting and the carefully curated soundtrack accompanying the evening.
“Dallas is a city where ambitious ideas can flourish while genuine hospitality and relationships still matter,” said Abramov. “That balance is a big part of what inspired Marlowe. We want this to become a place that feels woven into the fabric of the city—a place people return to not only because of what they experienced, but because of how they felt while they were here.”
Marlowe is set to open in Uptown Dallas in September 2026 at 2912 McKinney Ave., Dallas, TX 75204, and will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Additional details surrounding its official opening date, hours, full culinary offerings, cocktail menu, reservations and programming will be announced in the coming weeks.
