Bricoleur 2019 Rosé of Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, CA ($32)

by Andrew Chalk

Bricoleur Vineyards may be the longest-established Sonoma winery that I have never heard of. The web site points out “Co-founder Beth Wall Hanson’s great grandfather, Pietro Carlo Rossi, was the original oenologist at Italian Swiss Colony”, a landmark early winery in the county. Bricoleur is more under-the-radar but sustainably produces white, rose, red and sparkling (traditional method) wine from estate and contract grapes.

This rosé is an absolute joy on a hot summer Texas day. It has enough red fruit to be tasted on its own but enough acid to pair with roast chicken with Brussels sprouts, new potatoes, and sauteed sweet peppers.

In one swoop, Bricoleur has put themselves on my “watch out for” list.

Best ordered from the winery web site.
