WINE REVIEW: Cellier des Dauphins, 2018 Réserve, Côtes du Rhône, France ($13)

by Andrew Chalk

This blend of 60% grenache and 40% syrah is typical of Côtes du Rhône red wine in tasting older than it is and expressing a harmony of fruit and tannins. Drink now either to quaff or with barbecued brisket.

Appearance: Opaque ruby;

Nose: Briary raspberry, oak, thyme;

Palate: Chewy tannins, clean raspberry fruit. Hints of pepper. Firm acid keeps the palate’s interest, fruit forward;

Good value.
