The Lagrein grape traditionally grows in this northeastern corner of Italy. It is known for producing powerful red wines with high levels of acid. It is traditionally paired with the lamb, casseroles, game, and aromatic hard cheeses of the area.
This example in the proudest sense shows typicity in its opaque crimson appearance with violet notes. Its nose of berries such as cassis and toast. And its mouth filling fruit flavors with hints of tobacco and leather, grippy tannins, all uplifted by vibrant acid.
A very good example that offers a change of pace in red wine at a reasonable price.
