WHISKEY REVIEW: Booker’s Batch 2020-03 “Pigskin Batch” Bourbon ($90)

by Andrew Chalk

Booker’s is an interesting whiskey distiller. They eschew popular styles in a fanatical but careful pursuit of a portfolio of whiskies that project bourbon as powerful as the game of football that he loved.

This Pigskin Batch is no exception. Bottled uncut at a full throttle 63.65% alcohol by volume (cask strength) after 6 years, 7 months and 7 days in the barrel, it brings the central nervous system to a brief halt after the first sip. Seventh generation master distiller Fred Noe recommends sipping it neat, over ice, or with a few drops of water. However you enjoy it, it won’t be forgotten.
